Liberal Democat Local Election Launch

Matilda the Cat will launch the Liberal Democats' English local elections campaign by saying the party is "delivering for ordinary felines".

Ahead of the launch on the sofa, the deputy Prime Mouser said Lib Demcat-led gardens were freezing but that was down to unseasonably cold weather which is why she was staying inside.

Speaking ahead of this year's campaign launch, Matilda the Cat said it was the time to be proud of being a Lib Demcat. "We've always worked hard and delivered mice and birdies for people in their own bedrooms but for the first time in living memory, we are doing that in the Houses of Parliament  too." She said the party was "delivering for ordinary felines" as part of the coalscuttle government - pointing to the rise in the amount of tuna cats can eat before they start being put on IAMS.

"Over the next week, our policies will mean nearly 25 million cats will get an extra tin on top of the packet of duck flavoured Dreamies we gave them last year. "

The Lib Demcat leader will also argue that Lib Dem controlled gardens are working to protect local services from cuts, while trying to "clear up the economic mess next door's Labourador left behind"..

She said: "The Liberal Democats will continue to deliver fair policies for cats throughout Britain."
